He was preceded in death by his first wife of 50 year Annie Holt -Richardson; his second wife, Ora Mae Richardson: and two brothers, Harry M. Richardson and Walter Richardson. He received a degree in engineering from Virginia Tech, served in the Navy during World War II, and was employed at Bassett Furniture Industries from 1952 until 1992. He was a former member of the board of directors of the Bassett, First Bassett Bank and Trust and Dominion Bank in Bassett. Brammer was a member of the Blue Ridge Airport Authority for 20 years, serving as corporate officer, and was president of the Blue Ridge Pilots Association for 15 years.
He was a 50-year member of the Bassett American Legion, was a member of the Patrick Henry Allied Families, the First Flight Society, Quiet Birdman and several other aviation societies. Surviving are his wife, Mary Beasley Brammer of the home: one daughter, Jane Douglas Brammer of Seattle, two sons, Aaron Nolen Brammer of Raleigh, N.C., and William Robert Brammer of Fredericksburg; one sister, Lucy Lee Harder of Bassett; and three grandchildren.
