Dana White is hyping up UFC 306 at the Las Vegas Sphere as the greatest live sports event of all time - but he may be falling into a similar trap after billing UFC 300 as the baddest card ever and failing to live up to expectations. The UFC has booked the Sphere for UFC 306 on Sept. 14 - but the card is yet to be announced.

"It’s going to be nothing like anyone’s ever seen before," White told ex-NFL star Shannon Sharpe. "I’m already $16 million into this thing. This will never be done again. This will never be replicated.”
White is so confident the UFC's event will stand tall above the rest that anyone who tries to replicate it will spectacularly fail. "Anybody who comes in after me at The Sphere is ------. ------," White added.
A card hasn't been finalized but White says every single UFC fighter should be putting their name forward for the once-in-a-lifetime event. Mexico will be represented it seems, with the event on Mexican Independence Day. “Everybody should want to be on that card,” White said. “Believe me when I tell you. Everybody was all fired up about UFC 300… this thing is going to be… unlike anything ever seen before.”

The UFC needs a big event and a huge card to compete with boxing, which is smashing big fights out in the Middle East. The UFC's summer centerpiece, a return of Conor McGregor against Michael Chandler, went up in smoke in recent weeks following an injury to The Notorious. Instead, UFC fans will be treated to Alex Pereira vs. Jiri Prochazka II.
White, a businessman and master seller, saw UFC shatter its gate record, surpassing $20 million for McGregor's expected return. Whether McGregor's return is slated for UFC 306 and not the original 303 is unknown at this point. White said: “Conor McGregor... I’ve said it many times before and I’ll say it again, Conor McGregor has never done that. Conor McGregor never leads up to a fight and tries to renegotiate a contract or get more money.
"He’s never even done anything remotely close to that. He is as solid as solid can be, when it comes to being a business partner. Conor McGregor is hurt right now, it’s absolutely real. Yeah, no, he’s never done anything like that.”

McGregor headlining a return at the Sphere, among other top stars, would see White keep to his word. And the Irishman has already vowed he will step back inside the octagon when he's healthy.
"Very tough to be ruled out of my scheduled return bout. I picked up an injury prior to the press conference that required more time to heal than was available to me," McGregor said on social media. "The decision to postpone the fight was not made lightly, but one made in consultation with my doctors, the UFC, and my team.
"My fans and opponent deserve me at my best for this fight and we will get there! Thank you for the messages of support, I am in good spirits and confident I’ll be back!"
